Nonfiction Published in Adelaide Literary Magazine

When I first started writing, my initial objective was to publish stories that shed a light on what it’s like to go from a sighted woman in the midst of a business career to one who lost most of her eye sight and still managed to thrive ( thrive seems like an odd word but probably appropriate since I never really feel flat on my face).

I’ve published a couple pf stories along these lines, including I Did It, a story that documents my journey from business to academics while adjusting to being blind, and You Got This, a story shining a light on people who guide in endurance events for blind athletes. This story, The Space Between Darkness and Light, highlights the juxtaposition between navigating the streets of Manhattan as I was losing my sight and navigating the trails in the Eastern Sierras long after I lost most of my vision. I hope this story gives others losing their eye sight hope. Of course, this doesn’t mean the journey is easy. It isn’t. But with the right mindset, almost anything is still possible.
